Robyn Edwards - Partnership and Grants Manager, Gunaikurnai Country, Victoria

Based in Gippsland Victoria, Robyn has been working in the environmental sector for over 35 years, including 28 years with Trust for Nature, beginning as a conservation project officer and more recently the Southeast Area Manager.

Robyn’s professional background includes extensive community engagement activities, restoration of grassy woodlands, securing permanent protection of private land and managing large-scale conservation projects.

As part of the Red Gum Grassy Woodland restoration work on the Gippsland Plains, Robyn worked in partnership with CSIRO and the Department to undertake research into the impact of Autumn versus Spring burning in weedy Grasslands and established long-term research into ecological thinning of Red Gum Woodlands. She also implemented a burning/weed control regime and loved watching the grasslands flourish.

Robyn is passionate about collaboration between landholders, Traditional Owners, community groups and agencies. In her current role, as Partnership and Grants Manager with Biodiversity Legacy (BDL), she is focused on advancing landscape-scale conservation efforts through innovative and community-driven initiatives. Her work is dedicated to creating new pathways for conservation that empower communities and enhance the health of our natural environments.

Robyn is also excited to be supporting a BDL/Wildlife Unlimited partnership project – Recovering the Spot-tailed Quoll, as well as the recovery of threatened Glossy Black-Cockatoos and the Genoa River Correa projects.

East Gippsland has a vast landscape from the Alps to the coast with a wide range of threatened plants and animals and a high diversity of vegetation communities. Through BDL, Robyn is passionate about working in this landscape to secure, protect and restore East Gippsland’s special habitats, forests, woodlands, rivers, wetlands, plants and animals in this biodiversity hotspot.
