Dixie grew up in a remote corner of the Far South Coast of New South Wales, spending time immersed in the elements and within a community of social and environmental champions who were dedicated to the protection of the coast’s forests, mountains and seas.

This upbringing forged Dixie’s deep connection to nature and her strong sense of social justice and community- mindedness.

Dixie has worked as a lawyer for 20 + years and now joins Biodiversity Legacy as the BioLink Coordinator for Southern NSW and the Contracts Manager for the organisation – a perfect mix for someone with a legal background wanting to spend a little more time outside, applying their skills for the sustainability of the environment!

As Dixie’s young son says, “My mum is a lawyer who is now working for Country”.

During her time as a lawyer, Dixie worked predominantly in private practice in rural and regional New South Wales with a diverse client base, including; individuals, not-for-profits  and Local Government. She has practised across several areas with a strong focus on regional issues, environmental planning, property law and succession planning.

Dixie is also a member of the NSW Law Society Property Law Committee and Environment Planning & Development Committee, a former member of the Rural Issues Committee and former president of the Far South Coast & Eden Monaro Law Society.

Dixie is now bringing her son up in the forests and waters of the Far South Coast. She also spends a lot of time exploring the wilderness of East Gippsland, where her family has a property. They have spent the last 15 years regenerating degraded farmland on the property and protecting high-value biodiversity areas.

She feels a responsibility and a privilege to apply her skills and experience to help facilitate links for the transfer of knowledge and support pathways for the protection of the environment for now and into the future.
