Josh Wellington
Southern NSW Biolink Coordinator
Djiriganj Yuin Country, Bega Valley
Josh grew up on a large bush block in the Bega Valley, where the freedom to explore the Australian forests on the coastal fringe fostered a passion for the conservation of these unique landscapes and ecological communities.
Josh completed a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Environment, at the University of Wollongong in 2006. Since completing this degree, he has worked consistently for the past 17 years in natural resource management, ecology — botanical and zoological — environmental impact assessment, bush regeneration and conservation land management.
While Josh has worked across private industry and environmental impact assessment, his current focus in conservation land management reflects where he always imagined he would be. Managing parcels of land on the South Coast of NSW for their conservation values, and ensuring these places are maintained or improved, is enormously rewarding for him. He couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
Josh is excited to join BioDiversity Legacy, as he believes the organisation provides a way for people to protect land they have often spent a lifetime maintaining and are passionate about conserving.
