PLACES AND PROJECTS

The number and diversity of landscapes protected through BioDiversity Legacy’s land protection pathways continue to grow, as more individuals, families and communities connect with a shared vision: thriving ecosystems protected for future generations.

Since 2022, we’ve helped safeguard thousands of hectares and supported over 60 projects enabling enduring conservation outcomes. Here is a small selection of that work.

ECOGIPPS BIOLINK - CONNECTING THE GIPPSLAND PLAINS TO THE AVON WILDERNESS

In a pioneering act of generosity, in 2025, EcoGipps donated the first of three properties (approx. 350 ha) to BioDiversity Legacy for their long-term protection and stewardship. ‘North Paddock’  supports a variety of threatened plant species and forms a crucial biolink between the Coongalla Bushland Reserve, the Avon–Mount Hedrick Scenic Reserve and the Victorian Alps.

Nooramunga Land & Sea Sth Gippsland

To safeguard the ecologically significant saltmarshes of South Gippsland, in 2022 BioDiversity Legacy supported the establishment of Nooramunga Land & Sea (NL&S). That same year, the NL&S team acquired Little Dog Island in Corner Inlet, and in 2025 began scaling up efforts by securing the adjacent Bullock Island. Over 132 hectares of critical habitat are now protected forever.

Connecting Wildlife, South Coast NSW

What started as an act to protect a 69-acre parcel of coastal woodland on the Far South Coast of New South Wales has turned into a community-led conservation venture: Connecting Wildlife.

A group of dynamic land stewards are protecting Ned’s Forest and engaging with other landholders to expand the venture.
