PLACES & PROJECTS
The number and diversity of landscapes protected through BioDiversity Legacy’s land protection pathways continue to grow, as more individuals, families and communities connect with a shared vision: thriving ecosystems protected for future generations. Since 2022, we’ve helped safeguard thousands of hectares and supported over 60 + projects across six states. Here is a small selection of that work.
ECOGIPPS BIOLINK - CONNECTING THE GIPPSLAND PLAINS TO THE AVON WILDERNESS
BioDiversity Legacy is supporting the long-term protection and stewardship of significant landscapes in Central Gippsland through the EcoGipps biolink. In 2025, EcoGipps donated North Paddock — the first of three properties totalling approximately 350 hectares — to BioDiversity Legacy, helping secure a vital habitat link between Coongalla Bushland Reserve, Avon–Mount Hedrick Scenic Reserve and the Victorian Alps.
Nooramunga Land & Sea Sth Gippsland
BioDiversity Legacy supported the establishment of Nooramunga Land & Sea to help permanently protect ecologically significant coastal habitat in South Gippsland.
Since 2022, the Nooramunga Land & Sea team has secured Little Dog Island and neighbouring Bullock Island in Corner Inlet, protecting more than 132 hectares of saltmarsh, mangrove and coastal habitat for the long term.
nature Recovery Foundation, Bass Coast
On Victoria’s Bass Coast, BioDiversity Legacy has partnered with Bass Coast Shire Council to establish the Nature Recovery Foundation — an innovative regional model designed to protect, restore and reconnect public and private land for nature and biodiversity.
Connecting Wildlife, South Coast NSW
BioDiversity Legacy supported the establishment of Connecting Wildlife, a community-led conservation initiative on the NSW South Coast. What began with the protection of Ned’s Forest — an 80-acre parcel of coastal woodland — is now growing into a broader effort to protect connected habitat, support landholders and strengthen conservation outcomes across the region.
