Robyn Edwards
Community & Stewardship Manager. Gunaikurnai Country, Bruthen, VIC
Based in Gippsland, Victoria, Robyn brings both passion and skill to the role of Community and Stewardship Manager, having worked in the conservation field for 38 years, including roles with Trust for Nature, the Department of Natural Resources & Environment and East Gippsland Shire Council.
Robyn has expertise in ecological restoration, managing remnant vegetation, permanent protection methods, stewardship programs on private land and managing large-scale conservation projects.
Among the highlights of Robyn’s 28 years with Trust for Nature were the partnerships she built with landholders. She was instrumental in securing permanent protection over biodiverse areas, assessing the health and quality of the vegetation under protection and establishing long-term monitoring programs while working hand in hand with landholders to develop their stewardship plans.
Robyn also has experience with Red Gum Grassy Woodland restoration on the Gippsland Plains, working in partnership with CSIRO to undertake research into the impact of Autumn versus Spring burning in weedy grasslands and establishing a long-term research project into ecological thinning in Red Gum Woodlands.
Robyn is passionate about collaboration between landholders, First Nations, community groups and agencies. In her current role with Biodiversity Legacy, she is focused on creating and strengthening opportunities for community empowerment through our land conservation and stewardship programs.
She has also been instrumental in leading various projects with our close partners, including through the Spot-tailed Quoll Recovery Program and the Helping Hands for Sheoak project, designed to restore habitat for threatened Glossy Black-Cockatoos.
