Tim Rowe
Central Gippsland Biolink Coordinator
Gunaikurnai Country, Sale, VIC
Tim may have grown up in Melbourne, but his heart found its home in Sale in 2000, where he's remained ever since. His love for nature started much earlier — with childhood visits to his cousin in Bendigo, whose lush garden helped spark Tim's passion for horticulture and biodiversity.
A keen camper, Tim has been visiting Wilsons Promontory since he was 14 years old. It's a family tradition he's passed on: whenever his children return from overseas, their first stop is always Tidal River.
With a background in horticulture and a BA in Applied Sciences from the University of Melbourne, Tim's affinity for the natural environment has guided his career. Over three decades in local government, Tim has dedicated himself to natural resource management, focusing on park management, creek revegetation and sustainability initiatives across Yarra Ranges, Manningham and Wellington.
Tim takes pride in his efforts to rehabilitate urban creeks like the Mullum Mullum, Olinda and Flooding Creek, transforming them into vital wildlife corridors.
At Biodiversity Legacy, Tim is continuing his lifelong commitment to bridging the gap between communities and their natural environment. His work involves strengthening connections with government bodies and Landcare groups, and advocating for Biodiversity Legacy's model to be embedded as a vital tool for land conservation and stewardship.
Tim firmly believes Biodiversity Legacy offers an important alternative avenue for protecting biodiversity values and fostering stewardship for people today and tomorrow.
